LIVE MAP (ABOVE) ... SPC 1200Z Day 1 Outlook Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1108 PM CST Wed Nov 16 2022 Valid 171200Z - 181200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Isolated lightning strikes could occur today across parts of the Great Lakes, in association with Lake Effect snowbands. ...DISCUSSION... Today, an upper-level trough will move from the Eastern Seaboard into the western Atlantic, as another upper-level trough dives south-southeastward into the northern Plains. Mid-level flow over the western U.S. will be mostly from the northwest. At the surface, a large area of high pressure will remain in place over much of the southern U.S. into parts of the central U.S. This dry and cool airmass, which will prevent moisture return making conditions unfavorable for thunderstorm development across most of the U.S. today and tonight. The only exception for thunder will be from northern Lake Michigan southeastward to parts of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, where isolated lightning strikes will be possible, in association with Lake Effect snowbands. ..Broyles/Wendt.. 11/17/2022 Read more CHECK UPDATE ZOOM GRAPHIC
