Organized severe thunderstorms are not anticipated on Saturday.
...Synopsis...
A large-scale trough will lift northeast across the eastern U.S. on
Saturday. Further west, a strong upper anticyclone will be centered
over the southern Rockies vicinity with an amplifying ridge building
into Plains. Increasing northwest flow aloft will overspread parts
of the Upper Midwest toward IL/IN atop increasing low-level
moisture. Guidance varies on how much destabilization will occur
over this region, but some thunderstorm development across southeast
MN/WI, spreading southeast into northern IL/IN appears possible as a
cold front drops southward across the Great Lakes. If enough
destabilization can occur, some threat for gusty winds may
materialize. However, confidence in this scenario is too low to
include probabilities at this time.
Otherwise, scattered thunderstorms are possible across parts of the
central Gulf Coast toward the coastal Carolinas. While a moist and
unstable airmass will reside over these regions, vertical shear will
be quite weak, limiting organized severe convection. However, a few
strong gusts could accompany strong cells.
