Severe thunderstorms with an accompanying damaging wind risk appear
possible across parts of Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana on
Friday.
...Arkansas to the Central Gulf Coast Vicinity...
An MCS associated with a compact midlevel shortwave impulse will be
ongoing Friday morning across parts of southwest MO/northwest
AR/northeast OK. This impulse is forecast to continue to migrating
east/southeast across the lower MS/TN Valley vicinity through the
afternoon and the Southeastern U.S. overnight. Enhanced mid/upper
northwest flow will overspread the ArkLaMiss region during peak
heating, with a 40-50 kt 700 mb flow indicated by most guidance.
Ahead of the impulse and to the south of the eastward-advancing MCS,
a very moist and unstable airmass will be in place. Vigorous
thunderstorm development is expected and a potentially organized
bowing MCS may develop and spread southeast across central/southern
AR, northeast LA and northern/central MS. There is some uncertainty
in the southward spatial extent of the severe threat, but intense
wind gusts appear possible with any bowing MCS that develops
within/near the Slight risk area on Friday.
