A southern-stream closed low centered over New Mexico will continue eastward today, progressively opening and reaching west/northwest Texas this evening. A belt of moderately strong (35-45 kt) southwesterly mid-level winds and mid-level cold pocket (-14C at 500 mb) will overspread a modestly moist/unstable air mass across southeast New Mexico into West Texas this afternoon and early evening.
