SUMMARY... Scattered strong/severe thunderstorms will continue across portions of the central and southern Plains this evening. Large hail and severe wind gusts are the most likely risks. ...
Central/Southern Plains... Early-day convection/MCV that propagated across OK has contributed to an outflow boundary that is currently draped along the Red River into the southeast TX Panhandle. This outflow boundary remains convectively active with several strong/severe thunderstorms noted from northern Grayson County TX to near CDS to south of AMA. This corridor may remain active much of this evening as a secondary cluster/MCS could evolve over northwest TX then propagate east-southeast, along/south of the Red River. Given these trends, have extended higher severe probabilities along this corridor to reflect this possible scenario. Otherwise, considerable amount of convection is currently noted over eastern CO. Several robust updrafts continue to exhibit severe hail cores and this activity should gradually propagate south along the CO/KS border over the next several hours. ..Darrow.. 05/17/2021 Read more LIVE: spc.noaa.gov
