Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0759 PM CDT Mon May 31 2021 Valid 010100Z - 011200Z ...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHWEST TX... ...SUMMARY... A threat for very large hail, locally damaging winds, and possibly a tornado will be focused across parts of southwest Texas for much of this evening, with some threat potentially extending into south-central Texas overnight. ...Southwest into Central TX... Ongoing thunderstorms northwest of Del Rio, TX may potentially grow upscale into a cluster that spreads southeastward later tonight. Moderate-to-strong instability and sufficient deep-layer shear (as noted in 00Z DRT sounding) will continue to support a threat of supercells for a time this evening, with a threat of very large hail, locally damaging wind, and perhaps a tornado. The extent of upscale growth remains somewhat uncertain later tonight, but there is some potential for a forward-propagating MCS to spread southeastward into parts of south-central TX overnight, posing some threat of damaging wind gusts and isolated hail.
