SPC Jun 20, 2022 0100 UTC Day 1 Convective Outlook

SPC 0100Z Day 1 Outlook Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0752 PM CDT Sun Jun 19 2022 Valid 200100Z - 201200Z ...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FAR SOUTHEAST MONTANA...FAR NORTHWEST SOUTH DAKOTA...PARTS OF WESTERN/CENTRAL NORTH DAKOTA... ...SUMMARY... A supercell or two may produce large to very large hail and damaging wind gusts this evening from far southeast Montana, adjacent northwest South Dakota, and into parts of western/central North Dakota. ...Synopsis... An upper-level trough within the northern Rockies and the northern Great Basin will continue slowly eastward this evening before beginning to pivot northeastward and accelerate by early Monday morning. This trough will continue to promote continued strong/severe storms in parts of the western Dakotas this evening. Elsewhere, a few diurnally driven storms will persist for a few more hours within the higher terrain and within the northern Plains. ...Southeast Montana into the Dakotas... A lone supercell storm continues in southeast Montana and will eventually move into northwest South Dakota and southwest North Dakota. This storm will be capable of large to perhaps very large hail as well as damaging winds. Continued modest forcing from the trough to the west and convergence along the surface boundary in the western Dakotas may allow another storm or two to develop this evening. Other convection within a surface trough in central South Dakota will continue to move into an area of strong buoyancy for another couple of hours and may impact parts of south-central North Dakota. ..Wendt.. 06/20/2022 Read more CHECK UPDATE ZOOM GRAPHIC
