SPC 1200Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1153 PM CST Thu Jan 06 2022
Valid 071200Z - 081200Z
...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST...
...SUMMARY...
Thunderstorms may develop today in south Florida and tonight across
parts of the Texas Coastal Plain. No severe threat is expected.
...DISCUSSION...
Zonal flow will be in place today across much of the continental
United States as an upper-level trough moves eastward to near the
Eastern Seaboard. At the surface, high pressure will exist across
much of the central and eastern states. On the southern periphery of
the area of high pressure, isolated thunderstorms will be possible
in south Florida today and along the Texas Coastal Plain tonight
where low-level moisture and instability will be sufficient for
convection. But no severe threat is expected today or tonight.
