Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 1223 AM CDT Sun Sep 05 2021 Valid 051200Z - 061200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Organized severe thunderstorms are not currently forecast today or tonight across the Lower 48 states. ...Synopsis... A broad mid-level trough with cyclonic flow will encompass the Midwest into the Northeast today. A lead mid-level speed max will move from the central Great Lakes into NY by late afternoon. Only weak destabilization is forecast across NY ahead of the approaching disturbance. Nonetheless, a moist boundary layer (60s F dewpoints) and strengthening large-scale ascent will lead to isolated storms developing during peak heating. Farther west, isolated storms are expected to be ongoing across the central Great Plains in association with a mid-level shortwave trough forecast to be absorbed within the larger-scale trough. Although a strong storm cannot be ruled out early this morning over NE, it appears any hail risk will be limited and short-lived.
