SPC Sep 29, 2021 0100 UTC Day 1 Convective Outlook

SPC 0100Z Day 1 Outlook Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0758 PM CDT Tue Sep 28 2021 Valid 290100Z - 291200Z ...THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE MIDDLE ATLANTIC REGION...AND ACROSS PARTS OF CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN TEXAS... ...SUMMARY... Isolated damaging wind gusts and hail remain possible for the next few hours across parts of the Mid-Atlantic, and through the evening across portions of central and southern Texas. ...Mid-Atlantic Region... Thunderstorms continue to diminish in both coverage and intensity across the Mid-Atlantic region early this evening, as the boundary layer gradually stabilizes. Still, with dewpoints in the mid 60s areawide beneath steep mid-level lapse rates, and the left exit region of an upper-level trough nosing south-southeastward toward the region, an additional strong/severe storm or two cannot be ruled out ahead of the southward-moving front this evening. ...Central and southern Texas... Though largely sub-severe, clusters of thunderstorms continue to advance across portions of the southern Plains this evening. The greatest severe risk -- albeit limited -- appears to exist from the Hill Country east into the coastal plain, and westward to the Rio Grande Valley. The MRGL risk area has been reduced on the northern and western ends to focus on this area, though some eastward expansion of the risk toward the Middle and Upper Texas Coastal Plain is being included, given possible east-southeastward propagation of ongoing/loosely organized Hill Country convection through the evening. ..Goss.. 09/29/2021 Read more LIVE: spc.noaa.gov
