SPC 0600Z Day 2 Outlook Day 2 Convective Outlook CORR 1 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0113 AM CDT Sat Aug 14 2021 Valid 151200Z - 161200Z ...THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PARTS OF THE CENTRAL AND NORTHERN FLORIDA PENINSULA INTO FAR SOUTHERN GEORGIA... CORRECTED FOR GIS FILE ...SUMMARY... A marginal tornado threat will be possible, mainly from central Florida into far southern Georgia Sunday and Sunday night, in association with what is forecast by the National Hurricane Center to become Tropical Storm Fred. ...Florida/Southern Georgia... The National Hurricane Center is forecasting Tropical Storm Fred to redevelop across the eastern Gulf of Mexico on Saturday. On Sunday, Fred is forecast to move northwestward into the northeastern Gulf of Mexico. Bands of moderate to heavy rainfall will exist to the east of Fred's center and may impact areas from the central Florida Peninsula northward into far southern Georgia Sunday into Sunday night. NAM forecast soundings in central and northern Florida on Sunday show veering winds with height in the lowest 3 km above ground level with speeds ranging from 20 to 30 knots. This could result in enough low-level shear for an isolated tornado threat. The magnitude of the threat will be dependent upon how close the center or Fred tracks relative to the west coast of Florida. A more eastern track would likely result in a greater potential for tornadoes across central and northern Florida Sunday and Sunday night. At this point, a marginal risk will be sufficient due to the conditionality of the forecast. ..Broyles.. 08/14/2021 Read more LIVE: spc.noaa.gov
