SPC 0100Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0736 PM CDT Mon Jun 21 2021 Valid 220100Z - 221200Z ...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FROM THE NORTHERN MIDDLE ATLANTIC TO NORTHERN NEW ENGLAND... ...SUMMARY... Scattered severe thunderstorms will continue this evening from the northern Mid-Atlantic into northern New England. Damaging gusts, sporadic severe hail, and perhaps a tornado remain possible. ...Northern Middle Atlantic... A narrow corridor of instability continues across northern NJ, through the lower Hudson Valley into southern VT where surface temperatures are holding in the 80s. Ongoing squall line that stretches from southwest of BTV-west of ALB-west of MSV will advance across this air mass over the next few hours. 00z sounding from ALB exhibits MLCAPE around 1700 J/kg with adequate surface-6km shear for an organized linear MCS to advance through the instability axis. Have made minor adjustments to higher severe probabilities to account for ongoing activity and expected trends over the next few hours. Damaging winds should be the primary risk. ...Elsewhere... Scattered convection will continue across the Gulf States, extending in an isolated fashion across central/west TX. Any severe across this region has been, and will continue to be, sparse. Gusty winds may continue with isolated high-based convection south of Bend OR. This activity will weaken quickly after sunset. ..Darrow.. 06/22/2021 Read more LIVE: spc.noaa.gov
