LIVE MAP (ABOVE) ... SPC 1200Z Day 1 Outlook
Day 1 Convective Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1259 AM CDT Fri Oct 14 2022
Valid 141200Z - 151200Z
...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST...
...SUMMARY...
Severe weather is not expected across the U.S. today or tonight.
...DISCUSSION...
A large cyclonic flow pattern will be in place today across the
eastern half of the nation. A cold front will advance southward
through the Gulf Coast states as a cool and relatively dry airmass
settles in over much of the central and eastern U.S. Low-level
moisture will be maximized in south Texas and over the Florida
Peninsula where surface dewpoints will be in the lower to mid 70s F.
This combined with surface heating should result in a potential for
thunderstorm development this afternoon and evening. However,
deep-layer shear in both areas should generally be near 30 knots or
less. Also, large-scale ascent will be limited. These factors should
be unfavorable for severe thunderstorm development. Elsewhere across
the continental United States, a few thunderstorms may also develop
in parts of the Northeast today. Conditions in the Northeast should
also be unfavorable for severe storms.
