SPC 0730Z Day 3 Outlook
Day 3 Convective Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0208 AM CDT Wed Mar 30 2022
Valid 011200Z - 021200Z
...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST...
...SUMMARY...
Isolated thunderstorms are possible across the Florida Peninsula as
well as from the Texas Panhandle into Oklahoma and North Texas on
Friday.
...Synopsis and Discussion...
A stable, post-frontal airmass is forecast to cover much of the
central and eastern CONUS early Friday, anchored by an area of high
pressure centered over the MS Valley. This area of high pressure is
expected to drift eastward throughout the day. Some modest moisture
advection is anticipated over south TX ahead of a shortwave trough
moving into the Plains. Isolated thunderstorms are possible from the
TX Panhandle eastward across OK and north TX as this shortwave moves
through. However, the higher dewpoints and greater buoyancy will be
displaced south of the stronger forcing for ascent, limiting the
severe potential.
Isolated thunderstorms are also possible across the FL Peninsula as
a weakening cold front slowly moves southward across the region.
Moderate southwesterly flow aloft will be in place over the
peninsula, supporting the potential for a few stronger storms.
Uncertainty regarding coverage merits omitting severe probabilities
with this outlook.
