Severe thunderstorms are not expected across the contiguous United States today. ...Synopsis/Discussion... A progressive yet amplified longwave pattern will prevail over the CONUS through tonight. Large-scale trough amplification will occur along/east of the Appalachians, while an additional shortwave trough amplifies as it approaches the coastal Pacific Northwest tonight. Some thunderstorms will remain a possibility across southern Florida and offshore waters today within the pre-frontal moist air mass.
