Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0759 PM CDT Tue Jun 29 2021 Valid 300100Z - 301200Z ...THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PORTIONS OF SOUTHERN NEVADA AND VICINITY... ...SUMMARY... Isolated severe thunderstorms -- capable of producing gusty/damaging winds -- will remain possible this evening across parts of southern Nevada and small portions of adjacent California and Arizona. ...Southern Nevada and parts of California and Arizona... Loosely organized bands of storms are moving across parts of southern Nevada and vicinity at this time, coincident with a small area of 500 to 1000 J/kg mixed-layer CAPE. Per this evening's VEF RAOB, showing 600 J/kg CAPE atop a deep mixed layer, risk for locally damaging winds -- aided by low-level evaporative effects -- remains apparent for a few more hours, before storms diurnally weaken. ...Elsewhere... A large area of showers and scattered to isolated thunderstorms is ongoing from Texas to the Great Lakes, eastward. A few stronger storms -- capable of producing gusty winds locally -- continue, but a steady/gradual weakening trend is expected this evening, in tandem with diurnal boundary-layer stabilization.
