SPC Jun 27, 2021 0100 UTC Day 1 Convective Outlook

SPC 0100Z Day 1 Outlook Day 1 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0756 PM CDT Sat Jun 26 2021 Valid 270100Z - 271200Z ...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PORTIONS OF EASTERN ILLINOIS NORTHEAST TO SOUTHERN LOWER MICHIGAN...AND FROM THE TEXAS SOUTH PLAINS REGION TO OKLAHOMA... ...SUMMARY... Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms will linger this evening from the southern High Plains northeastward to the Upper Great Lakes -- particularly across the Texas South Plains area. Locally strong/damaging wind gusts and perhaps hail are possible, along with a tornado or two over the Illinois-Michigan corridor for the next 1-2 hours. ...Southern Upper Great Lakes to eastern New Mexico/West Texas... Scattered showers and thunderstorms continue from the Upper Great Lakes to eastern New Mexico and the Texas South Plains. While a decreasing trend is noted across much of the area, which will continue this evening, storms across the Texas/Oklahoma portions of the risk area remain vigorous, and are increasing slightly in coverage. Convective coverage increases will likely continue this evening across the western Texas vicinity, as a 45 kt southeasterly low-level jet evolves over the next few hours. Along with increasing coverage, a few stronger storms will be maintained -- and thus continuing risk for damaging wind gusts and hail -- at least locally -- into the overnight hours. ..Goss.. 06/27/2021 Read more LIVE: spc.noaa.gov
