If you think the unseasonable cold is becoming unreasonable, there is a glimmer of hope in @NWSCPC's 6-10 & 8-14 day outlooks. They focus the heart of the cold air farther west, but do strongly suggest we will get into a much stormier/wetter pattern Mar 4-18th. pic.twitter.com/rSJl49BjHg— NWS Chicago (@NWSChicago) March 5, 2019
Chicago's high of 12 degrees today broke a 129 year old record for the coldest high temp ever on March 4, which previously had been 17 degrees set way back in 1890. There have only been 4 March days on record with a colder high than today, most recently way back on 3/2/1943!— NWS Chicago (@NWSChicago) March 5, 2019
Rockford's high of 10 degrees broke the previous record coldest high for March 4th, which had been 14 set back in 2002. The high of 10 above was 1 degree shy of tying the all time record coldest high for March, which is 9 above set back on March 2, 2014!— NWS Chicago (@NWSChicago) March 5, 2019
Unseasonable cold will continue thru Thu. Reinforcing shot late tonight-Tue AM accompanied by a period of snow showers could produce a coating of snow in spots, reduced visibility & patchy slick roads. Accumulating snow psbl Thu-Thu. night, highest chances south. #ilwx #inwx pic.twitter.com/HVfVZ6Qwni— NWS Chicago (@NWSChicago) March 4, 2019

Chicago (O'Hare) is presently -3°. This is the coldest observed March temperature in Chicago since March 4, 2002 (-7°). #ILwx #BRRR— NWS Chicago (@NWSChicago) March 4, 2019
A frigid start to today by March standards will likely result in daily record cold highs this afternoon, with highs only in the lower to mid teens. Wind chills will remain below 0° for most locations today. Scattered snow showers overnight into early Tuesday a.m. #ILwx #INwx pic.twitter.com/6VLYWz499k— NWS Chicago (@NWSChicago) March 4, 2019
Unseasonable cold continues through late this week. pic.twitter.com/t90g8VQsAo— NWS Chicago (@NWSChicago) March 4, 2019
Early this morning of January 4th...check that, March 4th...finds almost all of northern Illinois including Chicago below zero. Here is some perspective for this unseasonable cold in #Chicago. #ILwx #INwx pic.twitter.com/d2HpGBGB4L— NWS Chicago (@NWSChicago) March 4, 2019
